1750's Feuilles d'Aristoloche Flemish Tapestry
Mid-1700's “Feuilles d'Aristoloche” tapestry.
Very orgininal, esoteric feeling Flemish tapestry. Has been freshly cleaned and is in structurally good condition.
Interestingly, the points on the fruit where the darker threads are no longer present is due to the tannins used to dye the wool threads the darker colours. Over hundreds of years these tannins slowly dissolved the natural threads hence the dark threads in unrestored tapestries usually being missing.
Has loops on the back for hanging.
Sourced in Lyon France
